Podcasts are often created by people with a notable surplus of high-quality equipment and manpower, they’re a medium that virtually anyone can be a part of with the right preparation and determination. If you have a story or an idea that would come to life through a podcast, then here are a few steps to get you started:

Step 1: Start with an idea

The first step to creating any podcast is simply having an idea that lends itself to audio storytelling. This should be what sets you apart from other podcasts, so try to come up with something that’s unique compared to what’s already out there. If you first have this, you’re on the right track.

Step 2: Create a script and story outline

Next, you need to map out your podcast by creating a script and story outline. Both will keep you organized and make sure that you’re including everything that you feel is important.

Step 3: Get your equipment together

This is especially important because poor audio quality is a major turn off for listeners. But that doesn’t mean that you have to spend a lot of money! Just make sure you use proper recording equipment such as a recorder and microphone so that your audio is on point.

Step 4: The Details

Before actually recording your podcast and sending it on its way, you need to finalize the details. These include things like the title, images and target audience, and while they may seem small, they will play a role in how listeners talk about your podcast.

Step 5: Recording and editing

This is where you get to see your hard work and planning come to life. Once your podcast is recorded, audio editing may be involved in order to help the flow of the podcast.

Once you have these five steps completed, you will be on track to recording and publishing something fun and worthwhile! Good luck podcasting, and make sure to have fun while doing it!
