My work at The Drag is usually behind the scenes, but there’s something so special about seeing your own work published!
I have worked on four episodes thanks to being a part of Travel Podcasting, a Maymester course with Katey and Quigley, and Katey’s Podcast Production class this past fall — but, did you know that’s not the only way to get an episode published on The Drag? We have pitch forms! From long-form pitches like our Darkness and Devilish Deeds series to shorter episodes or brand new ideas, we accept all pitches on a rolling basis.
This is a great opportunity for students to have a clip that lives in our feeds. This way, you can share your work with future job recruiters, and share with your family and friends. It is always impressive when college students are able to showcase work that is published by a production house, like us!
There are not many places, especially in audio, that facilitate the opportunity to distribute an episode or a series. So, even if you are unsure about your idea, share it with us. We are always willing to talk through it with you and find the best way to tell your story. You don’t have to be a journalism student, or even a Moody student, as long as you are a student at the University of Texas.
Staff applications for The Drag won’t open again until this summer, so this is a way to potentially get involved before then!

We review pitches on a rolling basis, so we’ll reach out to let you know of next steps if we decide to move forward. If we have to decline your pitch, we’ll email you and let you know why your pitch wasn’t accepted.
