Episode 2: The trash that never really leaves

We usually think of trash as the stuff we throw away, but what about the chemicals that stick around in our water, our homes, and even our bodies?

In this episode of Trash(ed), we sit down with UT Austin doctoral student Dana Sheinhaus to talk about PFAS, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and why “forever chemicals” are hard to avoid. We get into what they may be doing to our hormones, why pregnancy and puberty are especially important windows, and how researchers study the combined effects of the many chemicals we encounter every day.

We also talk about the consumer products that make exposure feel almost unavoidable, and the small, realistic steps we can take.
